5BlueAnt V1 is everything I expected & hoped forMar 03, 2009
By VikingSoul
Some reviews of this product made me doubt that the cost for the extras on this headset would be worth it. However, having played with it myself, I now see that many of the reviews that had me worried must have been written by people who didn't bother to read the owner's manual.

A few things that reviewers said that made me worry:

1) That I wouldn't have access to the voice commands on my phone and so would be limited to the presets on the headset ("Home", "Voicemail", etc). -- Not the case. Simply say "Phone Commands" and you've got access to all of the phone commands that your phone offers. (The technology here is limited only by the phone you connect the headset to.) It's awesome.

2) That I wouldn't have the power to terminate a call. -- Not the case. You just double click the ant button when you're done.

3) That the voice recognition technology was exciting but wouldn't really work. -- Not the case. Maybe it's not *absolutely* perfect, but the headset gets things right almost every single time. If you spend a minute or two reading up on the voice commands you can give it, it's amazing how easy it is to control the headset and your phone with the touch of just one button.

I also have a bit of a "princess and the pea" disposition, so I'm extremely impressed with how comfortable this headpiece is, even with long-term use. Especially given how secure it stays on my ear--even when I'm rolling on the ground with my 6 mo. old son!

Note to other parents: This headset is a lifesaver. Before I got it, I really couldn't talk on the phone unless my little guy was asleep--he would get jealous, want to eat the phone, etc.. Trying to wear a wired headset was useless--he'd pull it out immediately. BlueAnt V1 allows me to talk without ever letting him see a phone (which I couldn't do without the voice control) and it's so small on my ear that he doesn't even try to rip it off.
AHHHH... I can finally talk to people again!

5Best Headset I've owned to date!Jun 30, 2009
By Robert D. Burkhart
The BlueAnt V1.1 bluetooth headset works exactly as advertised - it is very easy to use. There is no "voice training" involved - it understands your spoken words immediately. Very well constructed, very good engineering. Extremely light weight and comfortable. Comes complete with AC and car charger and USB charger - the only additional item to purchase might be a current/voltage converter if you are an international traveler. One issue I had was my Blackberry Storm would not recognize the headset until I upgraded the headset firmware (a 5 minute process well explained), but I consider this to be a non-issue.

5Great bluetooth!Jun 01, 2009
By Laura K. Van Cleave "Laura K. Van Cleave"
My friends used to complain about the "wind" and outside noise when I would take their calls when I'm out walking; they say that it's much, much better now. I also appreciate that it announces what phone # is calling in; I can identify - while driving - whether it's a number I recognize and want to take.

3Will only pair with one device at a timeMar 12, 2009
By S. Fleming "SanNYC"
I must start by saying that this is a better than average headset if you are only pairing with one device. I purchased it because I need a headset that will pair with two phones at once and the reviews on its predecessor were mediocre. The box says that it will pair with up to 8 devices. However, after getting this product I called customer service for help with pairing 2 cell phones and was told that the V1 will only pair with one device at a time, but can remember up to 8 devices. The rep explained that I have to turn off the Bluetooth in one device before it will accept the other nearby device. He suggested that I return the V1 and get the BlueAnt Z9i which, again, had mediocre reviews.

I like the product overall and was told that the sound on the other end is very good. I don't think I've mastered the volume controls so my sound hasn't been that good, but it's at least average. I don't know how the foam ear tips are supposed to work. I mashed them up so badly trying to install them that they are useless.

This phone is excellent for people who need simple instructions spoken to them in order to use a headset. It's like a headset for dummies.
