I have an Iphone 4 with an Otter Defender Case on it, so I have no choice but to use an extender when charging my Iphone or playing music on my speakers. I have been through several other extenders in the past and have had miserable results. Usually within a few weeks the cord begins to shred near the plastic adapter point. Not so with this item.
I wanted to wait a while before doing an honest review and am glad I did. This is an outstanding product for long-term use. I eventually plan on purchasing another one for my office - probably in black. I have had absolutely no problems and highly recommend it.

Quickly...
Positive
1. Charges iPod, iPhone and my iPad. So full marks
2. Plays song with no loss in audio quality from all these devices.
3. Easy to connect and works on Sony, Philips and my Panasonic docks. No sure with old ones
4. Strong and thick and seems good quality
5. Access iPhone menu and perform other tasks even when playing music on the dock
Negative
1. Its not lengthy and slightly shorter than what I expected.
2. was difficult to connect initially and was tight, now it is better and seems fine
3. I am being picky here... could have been black as it does not fit with all other devices in my table.
Overall a good product to buy as long as you want to freely access device and also play music on the dock.

Needed to be able to plug my iPad2 or iPad into my Bose Sounddock (original model). This cable works perfectly and is very robust. Now I can exercise and get my sounds and even watch video.
Note: The Sounddock does not charge the iPad - compatibility issue, more BS from Apple, this is not a cable issue. Remote control works fine and all is good - this is a very high quality cable with a big plug - you may have to unsheathe your iPad to get the plug in. My cover is cut wide enough so I have no problems, but this will not be the case (no pun intended) for all products.

There connecters on each end of the cable could be a BIT more secure feeling when the are connected to your ihome unit to a iPad, BUT it is hardly an issue. For the price, I love it.
