Ok as a normal headset... for other purposes (+NERD) not as goodJan 13, 2012
By Georges Khairallah I got the Icon +NERD for Christmas, I wanted it to replace my original Jawbone, for a main reason: The ability to connect it to multiple devices. Mainly, I have my laptop with Google Voice and Skype, and my iPhone. So I thought the NERD USB plug would make a great addition for it.
For the most part it works pretty well. The sound quality when it's working is quite amazing. Noise cancellation is amazing. The interface for the most part is good. The Volume control in it seems a bit inconvenient, as you don't have an easy way to tell whether you're bringing the volume up or down, so you just have to listen in it pretty closely to see if the sound is changing upwards or downwards. Not usually a big problem, because you rarely have to change that from the headset.
The most annoying piece of NERD is the time it takes to connect to the USB, and start streaming the sound. (I use a MacBook Pro). when using Google Voice, or Skype, and receive a call, I have to fumble around with the connection while the other person is saying .. Hello? Hello? ... until eventually it connects. It's definitely not as seamless as I'd liked it to be, and I'm not really sure when the audio gateway triggers, and when it doesn't. I still have to try to use it with just a Bluetooth connection to my computer instead of using the NERD, to see if that would make a more reliable connection.
The battery life on it is acceptable. So far I only ran out of battery once before I expected to. But for the most part, I get an ok life from it. I'm not too hopeful that this battery life will remain that long for too long, but for now, it works well.
The size of the headset is quite small, and I usually always have a problem with putting the bluetooth headsets in my ear. This one actually fit fairly well, even though I still decided to use the ear-loop because it's more comfortable for me.
Speaking of the ear loop. I love that thing. It is flexible, and turns in any way you want. (not like the original Jawbone, where you have to fight with the earloop to make the headset ready for your left ear, or right ear.
The Software that you can upload is nothing too special really. The different voices you can upload are kind of cool. The app that you can download for it that is supposed to help you control Siri, doesn't work. It seems to make the initial connection, but then for whatever reason, Siri switches back to the iPhone's speaker, and there's no way to bring it back to the headset. It's weird and annoying, so I'm not using it anymore.
Over all, Jawbone Icon +NERD is a good headset, and I would still buy it again. It's a bit steep in price, but I still think it's worth it. I wish that they could fix some of the glitches that currently exist in it, and it would become quite a good device.
UPDATE 01/19/2012: Regarding the USB NERD device. after getting used to the connectivity, it got a little bit better. a couple of key items to know when using it: -1- You cannot switch between your laptop speakers and your headset for A2DP audio WHILE a video or an audio stream is playing. you have to stop it, and then start it for it to accept the headset as the audio device. -2- I haven't verified this 100% yet, but I think the equivalent of stopping and starting the audio would be to change the sound input (on the mac Option-Click the speaker [volume] icon), and change it to Internal Speakers and back to Jawbone NERD.
It's still not ideal, but once I got used to it, and a connection is established, it seems to work very well. I guess that deserves adding a (half) star to the review.

Almost perfectJan 09, 2012

It works great, not only with a cell phone but with an Ipad and other Bluetooth devices. The only problem I have with it is the range. With my older jawbone I could walk 30 feet away from my phone and still be fully usable, with this one maybe 15ft at best.

Best Headset Money Can BuySep 02, 2011
By hdtravel This is a really excellent BT headset.
Feature rich, versatile, great sound, great noise reduction.
Software can be updated from the Web and they have neat apps.
The nerd works great with a Mac or PC to stream audio to your ear.
It is not cheap, but you definitely get what you pay for. If you want the best then this is the headset to buy. I use it with my Apple iPhone 4 and Apple iPad 2 and it works like a charm.
Very highly recommended by this tech geek.

DOA using A2DPDec 27, 2011
By Roadstr I received it and tried to connect it to my Infuse droid and Nokia E71. The Nokia E71 connected and would disconnect it. The Infuse would only connect phone bluetooth most of the time. Most of the time it would connect, but not indicate media connected and nothing would play through the phone or headset; a couple of times (2 out of 30) it did play through the icon. It always would work through the nerd. Completed techical support on 12/22 and waiting to receive the replacement today (12/27). I'm thinking I should have sent it back to Amazon. The outer package was excellent, but the inner packaging was dented and didn't look new. EDIT: I received the replacement from Jawbone and new unit did the same thing with the Nokia E71... disconnected as soon as music or multimedia was played. On the Infuse I found that after connecting if a call was made then the multimedia would play, but bluetooth was a problem. No problems with a Bose BT2 and the audio was much better... fuller base and it switched seamlessly between my laptop and Infuse... something that I thought the Nerd would do better. I returned the replacement to Jawbone and returning the Amazon purchase.

Best headset on the market!Mar 20, 2012
By familylove3 I love this headset! I can talk, switch between calls, listen to music, and use any computer as a phone all with a click (or 2 or 3) on the headset. I have a convertible and I can drive with the top down doing...65mph on the highway (I never go faster) and my wife or anyone else can hear me just fine. This is a great headset, worth every penny and with the new cell phone law in PA I am not affected because I always have my headset on me anyway. It really makes life easier being able to answer my phone quickly or make calls with out having to take my eyes off the road or what ever I am doing. With it quickly turning on I am able to keep my headset off all the time (allowing the battery which already lasts a long time to last even longer). After I hear the first ring I can turn on the headset, put it in my ear and it answers the call before the call goes to v-mail. The Jawbone also charges quickly to a full charge so I hardly have the headset on the charger. It rarely ever dies while I am in the middle of a call because I can see on my phone screen how much battery is left on it. This is an essential tool for any business person. Once in the office or at home you can plug in the "Nerd" and turn your computer into a phone switching between your cell phone and Google phone, Skype account, or any other program on your computer. I recommend the Jawbone ICON HD + NERD to all my friends and I recommend it to you too.
