Quite good for the price, but just so-so if money is not factored inMar 10, 2009

It's actually quite comfortable to wear and I wear glasses too. Its ear bud should go in my ear canal more but it doesn't, maybe this explains why it sounds so low even at max setting (both it & my phone). And I tried out both ear plug covers already. It sounds noticeably softer than my Plantronics Discovery & Logitech & some other no-name brand dated years ago. Also people on the other end couldn't hear me too well, I really need to speak up now. All these make this not a work horse & not a professional model. So buyer beware. It has nice features like long usage time, battery indicator (3 colors of LED), etc.

Good value, cruddy fit -- here's a suggestionAug 23, 2009

At a street price averaging right around $20, you can't argue with the Motorola H390 in terms of value. What you can gripe about -- loudly -- are earpieces that don't fit and/or induce pain. The fit on this thing out of the box was just awful; or maybe I just have odd ears. At any rate, these earhook-equipped earpieces with plain old round inner ear buds never really quite fit me right.
Here's the trick: go get yourself a set of Jabra EarGels. Not the new ones that you can order direct from Jabra -- no, no, that'd be too simple. Look for the kind that fit the Jawbone 1, Jawbone 2, C120, and Samsung WEP200-500 series. You're looking for the kind whose ear bud aperture measures approximately 0.475 inches and do NOT look like triangles. This type of EarGel comes in three sizes and are distinct for L and R ears. Like these, for example: Jabra EarGels - Clear.
This kind of EarGel fits -- PERFECTLY -- the H390 in-ear bud; you don't have to alter the H390 nor do you need to glue. It also stabilizes the H390 perfectly in your ear. You can even get rid of that stupid earhook if you like. I find it fits *better* without the hook.
Now that it actually *fits*, you can take advantage of its better-than-average sound. People I talk to on this headset say they can hear me well, but it doesn't seem to have any active noise cancellation circuitry. For the money, what do you expect?
It charges an internal battery with a mini-USB connector, so you can charge it up from your computer, or a number of available car cigarette lighter chargers or wall-socket plug chargers that you can get anywhere. My H390 came with a wall-socket (120 VAC) charger.
It seems pretty durable as far as similar products are concerned; I've dropped mine several times and it still works like new. The volume controls are reasonably placed and easy to use, the power ON/OFF switch is difficult to operate with one hand; but the call connect/disconnect switch is really easy to use (especially with the EarGel trick).
I rate it a 4-star value, considering its price. If we can't consider price, then its lack of noise cancellation would cause it to be rated much lower.

Great sound, bad construction.Jan 21, 2010
By D. Jones I echo those praising the sound quality for such an inexpensive device. The earpiece also fit reasonably well - I eventually grew to a point to where I barely noticed it being there. The on/off switch has been nice too. My number and frequency of pocket dials has gone down significantly as compared to previous bluetooth models without a dedicated on/off switch.
My only problem now is that the on/off switch, which I have loved up to now, has broken. It simply slides back and forth with no catch or click indicating it is turning on or off. I don't know how this occurred. I just took it out of my pocket to take a call and realized that it no longer works. Never dropped it (really) and bought it less than three months ago.
Now the great sound and reasonably comfortable and light fit are useless, at least for this piece of equipment. Now on to find these features in a more durable model.

I have 2 of theseJul 30, 2011
By Victoria D'agostino Really like this headset. As a woman who tosses headsets in her purse - the on off slide on the side ensures that the headset does not turn on unless I turn it on. Saves on a lot of battery life. It is very clear and fits well in my small ear canal and the clip-on is a good fit also. I have been told that it is clear on the other end as well. I have 2 one I keep on my desk at work and one I keep in my purse. Well worth the price!

Lite & ClearDec 24, 2010
By diamonddbw First let me say thanks to all of the others that wrote about the ON/OFF switch problem. I will use it only when I charge and handle delicately. I just bought this today and charged it. btw, it's charge light was green in 20 minutes, nice. Made one call which sounded as good or better, then any one of 4 previous BT devices I've owned. I got no complaints from the party on the other end either. It's very comfortable on my ear. Guess my ears fit the BT median profile. Lucky me. At $16.30 usd, out the door @ Staples, I am indeed a happy camper. All of my previous devices were a minimum of $60. If my ON/OFF goes out in 6-12 months, I'd just toss this one and buy a new one. Hope this helps.
