5Back to the future!Jun 11, 2010
By Chris
I initially bought my Moshi Moshi handset as a novelty, but I'm shocked how useful it's turned out to be. Like everyone in their 30s or older, I grew up using phones with handsets just like this one. I had forgotten how comfortable they were to use, however. This thing can be cradled between shoulder and chin, just like a real phone, and it doesn't get hot like cellphones do. Sound quality is better than other wired (and wireless) headsets I've used--I often have difficulty understanding people on my phone, due to Sprint's highly compressed signal, but so far have had no problems understanding callers when using the Moshi Moshi handset. Highly recommended.

(I'm using this product with an HTC phone and an adapter which was provided by NativeUnion for free after I emailed them and requested an adapter for my phone--so it's not just for ipod users!)

5Great Quality, Useful and FunJun 08, 2010
By MasterJack
First of all I want to comment on the packaging - excellent. The box it comes in is just fantastic. These days stuff is packaged with the bare minimum and both the quality and design of the box is first class.

As for the handset - the feel is just perfect. I love that it's not slick like the original phone handsets. The finish on it is just right - looks good and feels good in your hand. The quality is also excellent. I had my doubts as to the quality of the audio but I love it. I do wish it had a volume control on it but I understand not all phones would support it. Most of the time I need to turn down the volume on the phone all the way down - the handset amplifies the audio quite a bit. I mostly use it on my phone but I did try my iPad using Whistle and it works just great.

I normally keep it hooked up to my cel phone and just lay it across my pouch (which is on my belt). I get a lot of stares and questions. I tell people it's a 'conversation piece' (LOL).

I love odd and out of the ordinary gadgets and this sure fits the bill. Thanks for making such a great product - good quality and fun.

BTW, I emailed them and told them I had an iPad and within a week or two they mailed me the correct adapter at no charge. This company really takes care of it's customers which in my opinion is just as important as the product.

Thank you.... John

5Excellent reception, fun (and yes, practical)Aug 19, 2010
By Tom D. "Opportunity is limited only by imagination. -Charles F. Kettering"
My initial reaction when I saw the Moshi Moshi handset was that is was a cool novelty that I wanted to get a few laughs from friends. But as I used it on my iPhone 4, I noticed an immediate improvement in reception and call/voice quality. People I spoke with also commented that my voice was much clearer compared with my Bluetooth headset or even when I'm not using any headset at all.

I get a lot of calls on my cell when at my desk. I never used my Bluetooth headset when not "out and about," and now leave my iPhone docked to the charger/radio/stereo unit with the Moshi Moshi handset plugged in. It's wonderful to have a comfortable "old-fashioned" headset again. I guess technology has done many things but it my opinion it hasn't yet replaced it.

The handset is of seemingly simple yet durable plastic construction. There is a single button under the receiver (in the center) that lets you answer calls and also hang-up.

Incidentally, the phrase "moshi moshi" is Japanese and is how most Japanese answer the telephone. I lived in Tokyo for 7 years and thought that was a very cute and clever name for the product. Two thumbs way up from me!

3Surprisingly good!Nov 23, 2010
By Michael E. McGown "mmcgown"
Admittedly, I wasn't expecting much from this product, but it has turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I obtained this for my elderly grandmother, who has a cellphone but finds it difficult to hold. Before sending it along to her, I tried this out on an iPad, and it worked like a charm. Even the on/off switch functioned well.

This handset is great for those who fondly remember the days when telephones looked like telephones, and because this handset is so functional, I recommend it for those who find cellphones difficult to hold and, more importantly, difficult to operate when one is also conversing.

Be sure your phone has a 3.5mm jack or you'll have to buy a separate adapter. My standard (older) cellphone has a 2.5mm jack, and I think this smaller jack is more common.

I would have given this product a higher rating if it had included the 2.5mm adapter. The adapters cost less than $1 retail, so including it would have made no difference to the manufacturer. The product is already premium priced at $29.99, so a few cents less profit would have sold more handsets.

5Great Product, Great Customer Service...Jun 22, 2010
By Thrown-Clear
This is a great headset. It is solidly made and very attractive. The audio quality is superb. The surface of the handset is not hard and slick like the old handsets it is made to resemble, instead it is covered in a rubber-like material that feels good in your hand, against your ear, and grips nicely against your shirt if you hold the headset between ear and shoulder. (And another thing while the packaging of the product is really not a big deal - it is fantastic. Velcro tabs hold down one side of the box, once that's opened, there's a little satin pull-tab to open a cellophane and cardboard window over the headset which is cradled in black foam. It just shows you how much thought Native Union put into every bit of the Moshi Moshi.)

I could not find an adapter anywhere for the proprietary headset-input used on my phone, (note to Samsung users - NONE of the 20-pin/3.5mm adapters sold support the microphone half of a hands-free headset. You get audio, but they won't be able to hear you. Hey Samsung? Screw you.) but a single email to the Native Union support line (support@nativeunion.com) and they sent one immediately.

Great customer service. This whole Moshi Moshi thing has been a pleasure.
