Not only it does not suppot audio, it does not charge either. Even though the ipad charge indicator is on with the extension cable, the battery is still running down.

With my iPhone 4 the cord does not work to play music or any other connections to a variety of players in our house.
ONLY WORKS AS A CHARGING CORD.

This cable powered the Iphone 4 but passed no audio to the dock. I retested cable with an Ipod Gen 1 with the same results.
no audio. Both the Iphone 4 and the Ipod worked perfectly when directly connected to the dock.

Passes power but not audio. Sorry to say that I wasted my time buying it. My fault for not checking reviews which clearly state exactly what I found, unfortunately. At least it's very inexpensive.
