 Very sturdy case, but the belt holder is TOO BIG!Nov 03, 2011

I've used an Otterbox case for my Blackberry for that last 2.5 years and have LOVED IT! Sturdy, attractive, not too big, and very functional. I expected the same thing with this case for my new iPhone 4s; however I'm a little disappointed in the execution on the belt clip. Makes a person wonder what Otterbox was thinking when they let this one out the door.
Pros:
The case itself is GREAT if you want a solid, well-built, form-fitting case for your iPhone 4s. No complaints with the case at all, love the feel, and don't mind the little extra phone thickness as it should provide excellent protection from bumps, drops, and scrapes. The clear plastic cover over the screen works great and should protect the glass very well. Opening and alignment with buttons, microphones, lens, etc are all excellent.
Cons:
What was Otterbox thinking when they paired up the belt clip with this case? The hard plastic tray (I could almost eat my lunch on this thing) is way too bulky and feels more like an after-thought (to this otherwise excellent case) than a well-designed, complementary belt clip holder. The finish and workmanship don't resemble the finish on the case and there are even unsightly mold marks and places where it looks like they broke it out of the mold; very poor aesthetics in my opinion. I have showed this thing around the office today to many of my co-workers and 100% of them agree that the belt clip is something they just wouldn't be willing to wear.
Conclusion:
I will be using the case only. The belt clip will end up in a drawer somewhere and may be used next Halloween, if I decide to dress up like RoboCop. To the designers at Otterbox... great job on the case... but I know you can do much better on the belt clip option next time.

I was apprehensive to order another otterbox case after the issues I had with my commuter series case, but I have to say I am completely satisfied with the defender case. It is a bit bulky but that is completely overshadowed by the fact of how well it protects my phone! I work construction so I am always nervous that I will drop it or run into something and crack the screen, and now I don't have to worry about it anymore. I would recommend this case to anyone who really wants to protect there phone!

Picked up the Otterbox Defender yesterday...Nov 12, 2011

...from my local best buy yesterday and I love it. In my local mall they have some carts of cell phone accessories and they try to pass off the cases for the '4' saying that they'll fit the new '4s'. I'm happy that I didn't buy one of those and waited for the proper case for my new phone. Sure, It's a little bulky and adds some weight to a light phone but for me it's well worth it. I never intend to but sometimes the phone drops and I feel very secure with this case for protecting my investment :)

This is an AT&T packaged case for an AT&T iPhone 4. That model and the 4s, or Verizon model aren't the same. This case is for at&t iPhone. They put a sticker over the iPhone 4 label on the package so that it says 4s??? Not cool.

What else need be said? Generic knockoff. Doesn't fit like an otter. Advertisement a tad misleading...was a gift and was disappointed. Would not recommend.
