1Frustrating Device!Mar 20, 2009
By Billy Boy "Barrister"
I am on my second Plantronics 222. The first one suddenly would not turn on even though fully charged. It was within the warranty period so I had it replaced.

Controlling volume has been difficult on both of them, and the supposed instructions for the device are useless. Normally the sound is just too low to hear in the car without cupping my ear with my hand, and even then often too low to be useful. This does not help with my effort to do "hands-free" calling while in the car.

I also had to replace my phone under warranty last week, and now I cannot get the phone and the device to connect even though the phone is an exact replacement of what I had. That may be an issue with my Audiovox XV6800 phone, but the device is still almost useless in the car even when the devices did connect. There are other issues I have with it, but you get the point.

If you have the means, spend a little more and get a device that actually works!

1Plantronics Explorer 222 BluetoothAug 22, 2008
By John Doe "John Doe"
I purchased this Bluetooth set for my new G'z One Boulder cell phone. Within the first week I was back on line reading reviews & purchased another Bluetooth set. The Plantronics Explorer 222 would probably work okay if you were in a library or someplace quieter yet. There is absolutely zero volume. I'm not sure if it's the Bluetooth set or the cell phone. I ordered a new Bluetooth that promises serious volume. I may be back to edit this review if it turns out that the G'z One Boulder is the culprit. The Plantronics paired easily, no problems there. I did not set up any voice activated settings, so I can't comment on that. The highest volume setting was useless while driving, even with all the windows closed. Also, the power/battery life indicator didn't work as described. Totally not satisfied.

EDIT Feb. 2010: The cell phone is NOT the culprit. The Plantronics Explorer 222 Bluetooth is junk. The sound of snow falling may drown it out. Not worth $0.50. Something I would expect to find stuffed in a box of Captain Crunch.

4Works fine with minimal back round noiseOct 19, 2010

This works ok with minimal back round noise but is a bit tricky to use and often mutes when I don't want it to.

1DefectiveJul 26, 2009
By HeyJack
While the item would charge and work while plugged in, when unplugged it was dead as a door nail. And I recommend you definently do not "take a chance" and buy this from Digital Media Outlet - they make you pay the return shipping costs on their defective product and wont replace it for some reason. So now I have no headset and Im out shipping costs.

4Solid, inexpensive Bluetooth headsetJun 01, 2009
By R. Clark
Purchased the Explorer 222 headset for my son to use with his PS3 game console. Great price, easy to pair up with the PS3. Definitely not a high-end Bluetooth device, but very functional given the low price. He's used it for about a month now, with no problems/no complaints. Very satisfied so far.
