I had recently dropped my Droid X at work into a bilge with about 4 inches of water. The phone ended up being submerged for about a good 5+ minutes before I was able to fish it out. After retrieving it I pulled it apart and let it dry for the next 3 days. I was happy when I put the battery back into it and everything seemed to function correctly. My problem arose when I tried charging my phone through its micro usb port, apparently I had fried it. I didn't have insurance on my phone so my only options were to pay full price for a new one or find a way to charge my battery externally. I gave this charger a shot when I ran across it here on Amazon, there were no other chargers that would fit the Droid X battery and this one claimed to be universal. When I got it in the mail it took me longer to open the packaging than it did to get the battery charging. It is very simple to use, at the top of the charger there are a couple pins that you line up with the contacts on the battery until the charger lights up. Once it lights up your golden, just plug it in and when the light turns blue your good to go. It took about 2.5 to 3 hours to charge my battery from a dead state to 100%, I was a very happy camper. The charger has a little lip that appears to be spring loaded and holds the battery firmly in place while charging. The charger showed no signs of overheating and was cool to the touch. I have only charged my DX battery with it but it looks like it could handle a wide range of different battery types and sizes. I would highly recommend this charger to anyone who has had similar problems as myself or to anyone who likes to carry a spare battery with them. I give this bad boy 5 stars.

Does exactly what it says it is suppost to. Charges the battery for my Droid X and the phone at the same time with no issues. Works great as far as charging.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I'm not really crazy about the way that the adjustable contacts are designed. The size is good, I just think it would be better if they were flat instead of pointed. I'm afraid one of these times they are going to break when taking the battery in or out.
If you buy a spare battery, this is a must!!

Greatest little charger for the Droid XApr 03, 2011

I bought the Droid X a few weeks ago and am very happy with it, except for the battery drain. I don't want to use an extended battery because their larger size prevents the phone from fitting easily into the motorola stand on my desk during the day and the windshield holder in the car. The solution; carry a couple of extra batteries in the car and at home (OEM standard batteries are only 6-10 dollars) and pop one in when the battery gets to 20 percent. Voila, another 8 hours of full power use.
This little charger is the best. It uses a clever grasping system to hold the battery in place and the adjustable contacts for positive and negative terminals can match any battery you might have. Not only that you can also connect the phone to a side outlet with a usb connection to the smaller one on the phone. This allows you to charge both the battery in the phone and another spare at the same time. It comes with a variety of connectors so it works in the car as well as off a compouter. Finally, the price is super reasonable. Very small and easy to travel with.
I definitely recommend it.

It works, but like the other reviews say, the contact pins are a bear to line-up.
What I do is line-up the 2 pins first while getting the battery in place. The led will light up when you have a good battery connection. Then plug it into the wall. I charge my Droid X batteries and my digital camera batteries this way.

This universal battery charger works great. Does not overheat and charges the thunderbolt battery in about 3 hours. I have used it on my son's Samsung Rogue battery as well as our digital camera battery, couldn't be happier with it. I have 2 extra batteries for my thunderbolt for a total of 3 so I always have a fully charged battery ready to go, I haven't had to plug my phone into the usb charger since I bought this charger.
The light turns red when you connect the battery and while it is charging, and when it is fully charged the light turns blue. The charger can detect polarity so it doesn't matter as far as which pin should be on the + or - side of the battery, it couldn't be easier. Plus the batteries seem to hold there charge longer charging them this way for some reason.
If you need an external battery charger, just buy it already
