5Probably one of the better holsters available for the Droid2Sep 18, 2010

Superior rubberized hard case and holster for Motorola Droid 2
These are also sold at the Verizon stores as MOTDRD2HOC, which is the same exact part. The plastic casing and holster has a black rubberized material covering that gives it a bit more grip. It is a retention holster, and it holds the Droid 2 better when the screen faces the fuzzy surface and label, and with the camera on the top. If you flip it around with the camera on the bottom, the retention grip isn't as great due to the difference in thickness of the phone.

You can't really charge the Droid 2 when it is holstered. The charging cable will get caught by the holster, which seems to be a design flaw. The case also makes the top screen section thicker than normal, which makes it difficult to access the top row of keys on the QWERTY keyboard. As I mentioned before, there is only 1 proper way of holstering the Droid 2. A few people have complained about the Droid2 itself being thick and bulky, and that this enclosure just makes it even bulkier. In my humblest opinion, the thicker enclosure makes it easier to grab and hold onto. The DroidX is a much larger (but thinner) phone which is easier to use, so the Superior case doesn't make the Droid2 too fat or heavy.

The positive aspects of this case outweigh the negatives. The screen faces inwards so it is protected from impact. The Body Glove forces you to keep the screen facing out, which doesn't make sense if you work in a machine shop or environment where objects may impact your phone. This Superior holster/case design protects the screen and allows you to clip it onto your belt like a Blackberry case. Some people have complained that the retention and grip slows down your ability to access the phone. For what it is worth, the extra half second it takes to get your phone isn't a big deal. You can always call the other party back. It's not the end of the world.

Overall, you end up with good protection for the Droid 2 with a clean and simple way of holstering it on your belt. For the folks that don't use belts, you can always opt for the less expensive case enclosures and not opt for the holster. There's a Seidio-style holster with a single plastic clip on top which looks clean, but lacks the protective enclosure for the Droid2. In addition, that single clip has a weak rivet and will rub against the body of the phone.

Another Amazon reviewer mentioned that his/her Droid2 kept falling out of the holster when they got out of the car. I tested it in a variety of cars, including one where the racing seats have side bolsters that are so tight, that I cannot wear a Blackberry while driving because it jabs into my side and my BMI is considered borderline underweight. I can see how if you inverted the phone (camera is on the bottom), it won't be retained as tightly. So it is important that you insert it into the holster with the camera on the top, screen facing in.

Unfortnately, the design of the Droid2 prevents you from using a regular Blackberry holster or one that uses magnets. It will tend to activate dock mode and drain your batteries.

Pros: Excellent protection, easy to use retention system, clips onto your belt like a Blackberry, lightweight, and professional.

Cons: Need to remove the Droid2 from the holster to charge, the enclosure makes the phone a tad thicker which affects typing when using the top row of keys, not as "secure" as a Blackberry holster.

Overall: 5/5, probably one of the best holster designs available for the Droid2. I've looked at a lot of them and can't find one that is better for my needs.

3FrustratingAug 31, 2010
By C. Cummings
I've had this case for a little over a week now. The case does a decent job of keeping the phone safe from drops and bumps. The holster felt a little strange at first, but once you work with it a little bit, it's fairly easy to use.

The major problem is that the body of the holster separates too easily from the belt clip. Practically every time I climb into my car (or other cars, for that matter), the clip separates from the holster, and the phone falls on the ground. So - in an interesting twist - while the case protects the phone from falls fairly well, the holster has actually caused the vast majority of the falls that the phone has taken.

It isn't especially difficult to reattach the clip and holster body - you just take the phone out of the holster body and force the two back together - but the annoyance of the drop, the fear that I'll someday park next to a water puddle, and the fact that it's only a matter of time before the repeated separations leads to a permanent breakage leads me to feel generous as I tag this item with 3 stars.

*Update*
The clip did break from the holster about a month after my purchase. I hot-glued the clip back onto the holster in the orientation I use it most, and have had no other problems. If you tend to use it in only one orientation, I would go ahead and glue it. It'll save you several drops and a lot of frustration.

3Mixed FeelingsNov 05, 2010
By Dave
A good product for the Droid2 that suffers from several design flaws.

Pro - Good feel and easy to hold because it's not hard or slick. I've had no problems with the 2 piece cover.

Con - The holster has several design flaws! The belt clip on the holster broke within 2 days since the rotation point is brittle/weak. The holster blocks the power/usb port on the phone. The holster blocks the alert signal led when used. These last two can be overcome with a Dremel tool or drill. The first problem can be somewhat repaired w/ hot glue (as mentioned before). The 2 piece cover prevents using a standard Motorola dock. And depending on the size of your fingers, the lip on the top cover may make it more difficult to select the "home" touch area below the bottom of the screen.

5Works with Motorola DROID 2 A955 Multimedia Docking StationOct 20, 2010
By William V. Burchard
Charlie's review accurately describes my experiences with and opinions of this product. The only thing I can add is that I also purchased the "Motorola DROID 2 A955 Multimedia Docking Station" and was concerned whether my Droid 2 would fit into the docking station's cradle with the case attached... and it fits perfectly.

One other thing I can add is that the seller shipped this promptly. I placed my order Thursday evening and received the product Monday morning.
