I read the reviews on this product -- and for the (FIRST TIME EVER) I am actually going to comment on a product.
First -- the negative reviews were *FAIR*. The documentation on this product needs a lot of help. Surfing the vendors web site does not actually lead to finding solutions to problems with the product. The BOX that the SoundClip arrived in was (OPEN) just like the other poster said. From my view it looked like the vendor did not use a good enough seal on the box (little plastic seal)?
Second - This product is actually quite good! ==> YOUR PHONE MUST SUPPORT THE A2DP PROTOCOL <== which the IPhone 3GS does. I found the sound that came from the speakers to be very good - I was surprised! I use the MLB AT BAT 2009 app on the Iphone - so it was nice to listen to live baseball over such nice speakers. Voice calling worked very well as well - I was able to place calls and no one complained that I was "in a tunnel" like many other of the bluetooth products I have tried.
Bluetooth pairing was easy - it just works.
Only annoyance is that every time I hit the (master button) there is a chance that the last person I just called -- will be called again. It's a little confusing to be listening to music and then all of a sudden you are talking to someone. This may be due to me not understanding how the buttons are supposed to work (aka Documentation could be a lot better!)
As such -> I give this product 3 stars -- mainly because I want the Vendor to continue to fix and improve this product. I like this product and would buy it again -- even based on what I know now.

The only thing it's good for is using it as a speaker to play music.
The phone feature has horrible reception and randomly disconnects your call.

This unit totally replaces those pesky little bluetooth headsets.I'ts good in the car,at home,work, and for a long walk.I bought this too play music while im working,but it has totally taken up the slack for my htc sensation.Ask anyone who has one about the poor volume on this phone.The soundclip is now my ringer,email notification,media player,and even serves as my alarm clock.I am now hands free to do any task.Get a giant keyhook, and run it thru the kickstand at the rear of the device. Then attach it to your beltloop,belt,purse,coat,or backpack.Gaming and movie watching on my phone is enhanced by the crisp loud sound.My freinds,and coworkers can watch videos and not have to huddle up, or look over my shoulder.The soundclip comes in the box with a manual,quickstart page,and car charger.No ac adapter included,so oder one from amazon.com for 3 bucks.Very easy to pair,as premium smartphones nowadays,dont require the 0000 steps.Phone quality is good,press the master button to accept,and end calls only.I say only because the button when on a call,sometimes calls the last number dialed.Not a dealbreaker though,but annoying just the same.Okay,lets get serious.My first soundclip would pair up and play for few minutes,then would conk out.WTF!I emailed ventev through the provided address(better than calling)and was warmly received by a gentleman named Samuel Rico.After troubleshooting didn't work,I emailed my receipt,and amazon invoice,i received my new soundslip 2 days later.Ventev is a great company,who stands behind their products.I will always have a soundclip on my hip,i take it wherever i go.I clip it to the belt, loop nearest my front pocket,tuck it inside.Now i dont look like power nerd with something sticking out of my head.THANK YOU VENTEV!

This Bluetooth device exceeded my expectations. Smaller sound than a home theater but tremendous fidelity considering the size of the speakers and overall unit.
For some reason, it sounds even more full in the auto. With the included "clip", naturally it easily mounts to an auto visor and its easy to mount on your belt if you're carrying tunes around on a tablet computer or other Bluetooth enabled device.
This was the Bluetooth speaker investment I was looking to find. Simply great!

1. Pairs easily with all my mp3 bluetooth players.
2. Pairs easily with laptops to play music.
3. Very loud and good range of sound considering its small size
4. When paired with laptops for Skype calls, the mic pickup is soft, though the incoming voice is loud through this ventev speaker.
5. Inspite of complaints from other reviewers, I find the tiny booklet succinct and gives all the required info. In particular, you can use the 2 volume buttons and the multi-function function to toggle to next track and previous track, and also fastforward/rewind. You can hold down multi-function button while flipping on power button to pair with difficult devices, especially when I am pairing it with 5 BT mp3 players and 2 lappies.
6. Buying a wall plug to replace this car power charger is extremely difficult. So you need to buy a car charger to wall charger adapter, which could range for $3 from amazon or $35 at Radio Shack.
7. The built is very rugged plastic and I guess it could survive many tumbles down the concrete staircase.
CONCLUSION: I deducted one star as the mic pickup is too soft. Compared to the bluetooth speakers of other brands that I have, for this price, Ventev Soundclip is worth buying for playing from your audio bluetooth sources, though I cannot comment on using with a cellphone because I have not tried that yet. Buy it!
